LIVE REVIEW: Drake Milligan @ Islington Assembly Hall

Last night (Friday, July 19th) Texan country superstar Drake Milligan rocked a sold-out Islington Assembly Hall for his third show in a row at the venue. Few artists of today’s generation possess a true star aurora and presence but it’s oozing from every fiber of Drake’s being. He’s a born entertainer.

His infectious energy, incredible stage demeanour and flawless vocals made last night’s showcase one of the very best concerts Music and Tour News have attended. He is a star in every sense of the word and last night he demonstrated why he is on the fast track to becoming one of the most influential artists in country.

His country roots embedded with his crescendo of rock sensibility mean his live shows are loud and raucous and invite the audience in, leaving them completely in awe and truly captivated. He has an effortless sex appeal and delivers a show that would have been fitting in the 60s – 70s heyday of Elvis Presley.

Last night in the crowded and heated room of the Islington Assembly Hall in 30C scorching temperatures felt like a moment in history that will live with those lucky enough to be in attendance forever. This was a show of iconic proportions that had magic to it, it was a gig that put Drake Milligan on the map and will no doubt be one that fans get to say “I was there” in years to come when he’s selling out stadiums.

There’s no denying that Drake Milligan is a true entertainer in every sense of the word, he transported the audience to the Honkey Tonks of Nashville, the Texan countryside, and the inspiring Opry, and his appeal was summed up when the seated portion of the crowd rose to their feet at the end of the night for a well-deserved standing ovation for country music’s most exciting rising talent.
