LIVE REVIEW: Vic Allen’s Album Launch

Last night (Tuesday, January 31st) British country-influenced singer/songwriter Vic Allen performed to a sold-out crowd at the Water Rats Venue in King’s Cross London for the official launch of her debut album ‘Someplace I’d Rather Be’ which was officially released on Friday, January 27th.

It’s always interesting seeing an artist live for the first time, there’s an anticipation and an air of mystery; will they live up to the version in your head? do they engage with the audience? does their vocal sound as good as the record? These are a few of the questions that arise and I’m so happy to say that Vic Allen went above and beyond my expectations.

She was comfortable in the spotlight with a fantastic session band behind her. She rattled through the impressive tracklist with the ease of a seasoned professional and even played the piano in front of a live audience for the very first time – a truly fantastic moment for all in the room last night.

There was a fantastic sense of real support at the Water Rats, everyone there wanted Vic to succeed and to showcase the LP and she did an amazing job of creating an atmosphere that captured the essence of the record whilst delivering a top-notch vocal delivery despite suffering from flu.

Vic Allen shone at her debut LP launch and it was an event that will no doubt be a real highlight of her career for years to come, she is a diamond in the British country music scene and an artist who has all the ingredients needed to make it to the top and this project feels like just the start.
