SINGLE REVIEW: Lady A’s ‘Things He Handed Down’
Award-winning country music trio Lady A have today (Friday, June 11th) released their brand new single ‘Things He Handed Down’ which is spearheading their forthcoming project ‘What A Song Can Do’ which will be dropping across all leading digital platforms on June 25th.
The track follows on from the anthemic, party-inspired ‘Like A Lady’, and sees the band sharing a more mellow vibe, showcasing that the upcoming tracklist will feature an array of musical styles that see them navigating between traditional country, modern pop, and rock styles.
With ‘Things He Handed Down’ we hear Charles Kelley taking the main lead on vocals with gorgeous harmonizing support from Hillary Scott, and Dave Haywood as they deliver a sweet guitar-driven melody, that overlays the heartening lyrical story about the important things that get left behind when a loved one moves on.
It is an emotionally charged offering from Lady A and one that sees them returning to their sonic country music roots as they create a striking, stripped-back acoustic vibe that lets the lyrical story take centre stage whilst giving them the opportunity to lay their vocals bare.
The group always shine brightest on these soaring ballads, and they definitely deliver an emotive, heartwarming song with ‘Things He Handed Down’ which is one of their most impressive releases in recent years and gives fans a delightful taste of what’s to come from their future records.
