Twinnie Shares Most Relatable Song Of 2020 – ‘This Year Sucks’

Having teased the track ‘This Year Sucks’ across her growing TikTok platform on Wednesday, September 8th, rising superstar Twinnie has now shared the full-length song and video across Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram with the clip bringing to life everything we have been going through whilst in lockdown.

The quirky tongue-in-cheek lyrics poke fun at the isolation situation, and was penned by the York country-pop singer/songwriter alongside Summer Overstreet to bring a little light relief to the dark days we are currently going through whilst also shining a light on the fact we have seen people come together like never before during the crisis.

The colorful video meanwhile brings the pandemic issues to the forefront with clips filmed at the supermarket featuring toilet paper, and of course hand sanitizer and face masks while more poignant clips such as face timing friends, and seeing loved ones through a window shine a light on the tough parts we have been through so far.

The video was filmed by British photographer and videography Naomi Kane who expertly creates a stellar visual for the lyrical story of ‘This Year Sucks’ and makes sure there’s a feel-good, fun vibe running through that also signals to light at the end of the tunnel as we navigate through COVID-19 together.

Speaking about working on the video, Naomi Kane says: “When Twinnie spoke to me about the song sheโ€™d written with Summer and how much we were both missing working we knew we wanted to make a video! It was an interesting one figuring out the logistics of making a music video whilst also keeping safe and social distancing etc so I bought a TONNE of antibacterial stuff, got a mask, and away we went! It was shot in York on the same day we had the heatwave last month. We tried to include parts of the crazy COVID has brought to us all Toilet roll shortage, wearing a mask when youโ€™re good shopping, and finding ways to entertain yourselves at home!”
