VIRTUAL LIVE REVIEW: The Shires’ Online Concert
With live events and concerts of all kinds still banned in the UK due to the ongoing COVID-19 lockdown restrictions, record-breaking country-pop duo The Shires decided to put together a full-scale virtual concert for viewers and fans to enjoy from the safety of their own homes.
The event which was streamed from an actual concert venue via online service Stabal saw the duo consisting of Crissie Rhodes, and Ben Earle joining back-up with their live touring band for the first time in over a year for an incredible performance of their biggest and newest hits.
Since releasing their latest album ‘Good Years’ back last year, The Shires have been unable to get on stage to sing the songs for their loyal fanbase but that changed last night (April 10th_ thanks to this phenomenal virtual event which saw them creating a stellar immersive showcase that invited viewers into the live environment once again.
Well known for being one of the best live acts on the circuit The Shires were on top-form for this full-on, energetic gig that gave fans a taste of what’s to come when the pair return to the touring world – belting out a variety of their classics such as ‘Friday Night’, A Thousand Hallelujahs’, ‘Guilty’, Daddy’s Little Girl’, State Lines’, ‘Nashville Grey Skies’, and ‘My Universe’, alongside new hits including ‘Lightning Strikes’, ‘About Last Night’, and ‘On The Day I Die’, the event was a phenomenal run-through of poignant, stripped back moments, and sing-a-long euphoric fun.
Crissie and Ben delivered a truly spellbinding performance that managed to create an atmosphere of an actual real-life concert despite performing in an empty room with no fans in attendance – there was something special about seeing them back on stage doing what they do best and the closer of ‘Crazy Days’ was a bittersweet moment that shone a light on their tight harmonies whilst reminding us of what we’ve missed this past year with the silver lining that things will get better.
Overall this was a virtual event that offered a glimmer of hope that live music will return in full capacity in the near future whilst giving fans an appetiser of what it feels like to be front-row at a gig once again after more than twelve months without musicians touring the country.
