LIVE REVIEW: Kane Brown, Dasha, and Dylan Schneider @ OVo Arena Wembley

Over the past decade or so, country music has been on the fast track to mainstream success in the UK and recent shows are only getting bigger and bigger with homegrown acts comfortably selling out larger, and larger venues across the country, whilst international artists are filling stadiums regularly, and at the Ovo Arena Wembley on Friday, October 10th a small slice of Nashville was brought to the capital thanks to US phenoms Kane Brown, Dasha, and Dylan Schneider.

It was a country takeover in the packed room thanks to Kane Brown bringing his highly acclaimed High Road tour to the UK with support from Dylan Schneider and Dasha, and it made for a truly terrific night of live music and a real pinch me moment for country fans who have been a fan of the genre for years even when it wasn’t deemed “cool”.

Dylan Schneider kicked off proceedings with a stripped-back acoustic set, letting his vocals and lyrics do the talking. He didn’t bring any fireworks, but he delivered a set filled with simplistic magic that proved he is one of the most exciting new talents arriving on the scene. Having impressed at C2C last year, there’s no doubt that Dylan will be back on our shores very soon. The London crowd adored him at Wembley, and he even received an impromptu rendition of Happy Birthday from the crowd.

Up next was Dasha, who effortlessly brought the party. Turning the temperature up, Dasha had the London crowd on their feet and in full voice. This was the last night of the tour, and the release day of her Anna EP and the Nashville-based singer/songwriter was pulling out all the stops. The multi-skilled performer delivered a slick set packed with powerhouse vocals and headline-worthy stage presence. Standouts were the new hit ‘Work On Me’, previous smash ‘Not At This Party’, the unreleased ‘Memo’, which is a sure-fire global smash-hit, viral sensation ‘Austin’, and the stripped back ‘Oh, Anna’.

Dasha is a truly remarkable talent, and her set at London’s Ovo Arena Wembley was nothing short of incredible. She is one of country music’s biggest exports right now, and her showcase in London was a striking reminder of how powerful women’s voices are. It was outstanding from start to finish.

Bringing the curtain down on the night was headliner Kane Brown, who brought a stunning star power to the stage with his infectious energy, natural country twang and stellar storytelling, vulnerability and intense staging. The industrial backdrop and fire bursts added to the drama whilst Brown’s natural ability lit up the arena and had the crowd in full voice from the off.

Standout moments included ‘Like I Love Country Music’, ‘Homesick’, ‘Haunted’, ‘What Ifs’, and ‘Famous Friends’, for which he brought Schneider and Dasha back on stage for making for a moment that will live long in the memory of those in attendance. There’s no denying Kane Brown’s appeal, and his Wembley show was electric from start to finish.

Overall, the night was a true celebration of country music and a reminder of just how much the genre has grown and is loved across the UK.
