EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW: Laura Beckwith Talks New Single ‘Sick Of The Movies’

Fast-rising British country crossover artist Laura Beckwith has returned with her latest single titled ‘Sick Of The Movies’ which further showcases her ever-maturing soundscape and puts the spotlight on her vocal growth and lyrical skill.

Here we chat exclusively with Laura Beckwith to chat about the track and more:

Your new single is out now, how excited are you to be sharing new songs with your audience?

I’m super excited! I’ve been sitting on this song for a very long time and I can’t wait for everyone to hear it!

This new track seems to be building nicely on the success you’ve had recently, do you have any set goals in mind for the release?

I’ve been very excited to release ‘Sick Of The Movies’ with the song being about rom-com movies, filming the promo has been so much fun. My main goals at the moment are focused on growing my audience and building a community of people who can grow with me and my music!

What would you say has been the main source of inspiration for the lyrics in this song?

I grew up watching a lot of rom-coms like Twilight, Pretty Woman, Notting Hill you name it I’ve probably watched it! As I’ve got older I’m realising that love isn’t like it is in the movies! For some of the lyrics, we took inspiration from lines out of classic rom-com movies!

What do you hope listeners take away from the lyrical story?

The last line in the chorus reads ‘Every day I’m waiting… for my happy ever after’. I think ultimately the song is about hoping to one day experience a love like it in the movies! However, I know that everyone will have their own interpretation of the song and I can’t wait to hear what they think about it!

Can we expect a music video to accompany this release?

I would really love to do a music video for this single.. I am hoping there will be but it’s not confirmed yet

We’re more than halfway through 2023, what would you say has been your highlight of the year so far?

 That’s a hard question but I’d have to say performing at The Song Suffragettes show in London was definitely a highlight! 

Looking ahead, what else does 2023 hold for you?

There are so many exciting things planned over the next couple of months, including more music to be released, a trip to Nashville and some more shows to come! I’m really looking forward to the next few months ahead!
