EXCLUSIVE: JuBillee Talk Debut Album ‘You & I’

Scottish country-pop duo JuBillee are fast becoming one of the most loved British acts across the genre thanks to their infectious sonic blend, and standout lyrical stories. Earlier in the year, they burst onto the scene with the release of their debut single ‘Don’t Make Me Look Into Your Eyes’ which topped the UK Country Chart and even broke into the Official All Genre Top 40.

And on November 6th, they will look to build on that incredible success with the release of their eagerly anticipated debut album which is titled ‘You & I’, with the project promising luscious harmonies, pop-infused anthems, and classic stories. Here we chat with JuBilee to discuss the record further:

Congratulations on the success of your debut single, how are you finding the response so far?

We are totally blown away and humbled by the response from our fans and everyone who has supported us.

How did you celebrate the single topping the country chart?

Due to an ongoing Pandemic, we were slightly more restricted than we would have liked. However, we celebrated together with our family and friends as much as we could.

How have you found the experience of sharing music during this period?

It’s all been slightly strange sharing music due to the circumstances. However, we feel in a way that we have gained more of a following due to these circumstances, as we interact through social media and have built an incredible fan base.

How are you approaching the promotion side of releasing music during this time?

Again we feel that social media is the way to go during this time when we can’t get out to promote and do mini-tours. Therefore we get as much out through this source as possible.

Along with sharing the single, you’ll also be dropping your album on November 6th, how excited are you about sharing the record?

Very very excited!! The journey as a whole has been incredible… with the release of two singles and now the album we can’t wait to let everyone hear our music.

Can you tell us a little about the overall writing experience for the album?

Well the good thing is that we actually had 80% of the writing all done, which really helped us achieve what we have in the time frame we had. We worked so hard to get more written and have successfully brought an amazing album to the table.

What was your main source of inspiration for this body of work?

Well we all worked as a team and the inspiration came as we worked together.

Is there one song in particular that you’re most excited for fans to hear?

Picking one, in particular, is extremely difficult as there are different reasons for us wanting people to hear each one. For instance, we are really looking forward to everyone hearing our album title track “You And I” as it has a lot of meaning to us in the lyrical sense of us having this chance to shine and live our dream. We also are very excited about “I Wonder Who Is Loving You Tonight”. This is the hidden gem on the album which we think the fans will really take to. However, there are a few others we are excited about too!

Sonically, how do you feel your music fits into the current UK country scene?

Our music to us has a very new sound which we feel will get major attention in the industry. It’s very Pop Country with “Attitude”. Along with the clever musical patterns, it delivers a quirky yet dynamically vocal performance throughout. It brings out the best in our style and personality which is imperative in this industry.

Can we expect to see you touring this record when it’s safe to do so?

Yes, 100%!! We can’t wait to get out and do live performances…. Live is our Forte! We are natural performers/vocalists and really thrive on being able to perform to people.
