LIVE REVIEW: CMA Songwriters Series @ Indigo O2

Last night (Thursday, March 9th) C2C Festival 2023 got off to a fantastic start with an incredible live showcase at the Indigo O2 hosted by Absolute Radio’s Baylen Leonard with performances from Lainey Wilson, Ashley Gorley, Nate Smith, and Dalton Dover for the CMA Songwriter Series.

It’s no secret that US country music artists love playing for UK audiences and last night’s writers’ round proved just why they have such a love affair with UK country music fans. The packed-out show was filled with joy from the crowd who lapped up the stories behind the songs and sang in full voice when needed.

There is something truly special about a Nashville writers’ round being brought to Britain, and this line-up was full of outstanding voices and storytellers who opened their hearts on stage and delivered an iconic night of live music with Nate Smith describing it as “Opry vibes” a huge compliment from the artist.

Including the outstanding talent of the four headliners, there was also time for a few guest performers to be brought out on stage including rising talent Alana Springsteen, and critically acclaimed artist Caylee Hammack with both women further enhancing the soulful and uplifting feel of the evening.

Beforehand there was also a small CMA awards ceremony which celebrated those who have been so vital in bringing C2C to fans in the UK every year, this is the tenth-year anniversary of the festival so it is going to be a wonderful celebration this weekend of the event and how much it has grown since those early days.

Last night was special and a real celebration of the power of country music.
