Runaway June Release New Single ‘We Were Rich’

Country music trio Runaway June are back with their brand new single ‘We Were Rich’. The track was originally recorded with original band member Hannah Mulholland who announced her departure from the group earlier this year in order to pursue solo projects. She was swiftly replaced by Natalie Stovall who joins Naomi Cooke and Jennifer Wayne.

The harmony based band were formed back in 2015 by Cooke and Wayne, so the foundation of Runaway June remains very much intact and the new updated version of ‘We Were Rich’ has been remastered in order to feature Stovall’s stunning vocal and the result is phenomenal.

Their latest offering is a nostalgic anthem that will strike a chord with people across the globe especially those who were kids during the 80s thanks to its poignant lyrical approach. It is a mature, well-rounded release that showcases the strength and depth that Runaway June possesses and highlights the fact that they are three powerful, independent women in control of their sonic sound.

Speaking about the official release of ‘We Were Rich’, Runaway June say: “Three years ago we sat in a small room at our label in what our industry calls a “pitch meeting” where publishers from all over music row sit down with you and play you songs that their songwriters have written in hopes that you find one that helps you finish your project. We have heard some of the most incredible songs in those meetings and learned so much about songwriting and the different artists and writers that make our genre what it is.

But sometimes those meetings can feel a lot like being in a perfume store; where after a little while everything smells the same and you can’t smell anything anymore. At the end of this meeting (with somewhat dull senses) we heard “We Were Rich”. Before the first verse was finished our eyes were brimming with tears and we were jolted back in time to squirming around on a church pew.

Imaginations were vivid and maybe the only worry you had was a flat bicycle tire. The power that music has to heal, to transport, to give courage or bring back visceral memories is some of the most potent medicine we can ever experience and this song has done that over and over again”

The track is a stunning release from the trio who are well and truly on their way to global stardom and thanks to this latest offering they are one step closer to worldwide domination. They have incredible vocal control and their luscious harmonies make them stand out from the rest. Country music is very lucky to have these outstanding women in the genre.
