The Shires Release New Album ‘Bonfire’

Fresh from playing BST Hyde Park with the legendary 90s country icon Garth Brooks, British record-makers The Shires are back with their long-awaited sixth studio album ‘Bonfire’ and the four-year wait has been more than worth it, such is the quality of this record.

Now signed to Blue Highway Records in partnership with Big Machine Label Group, it’s clear to hear that having major influence from Nashville execs has given the duo the opportunity to return to their core country roots and stunning harmony-based style, making this one of their most authentic releases in recent years.

The album is warm, inviting and features a mixture of absolutely beautiful, well-crafted ballads and brilliant uptempo offerings that are made for festival season. The LP offers something for everyone, and there’s no denying that The Shires are back and sounding better than ever.

Major standouts on the album include the soaring ‘Magnetised ‘, which takes us back to the style of their 2016 ‘My Universe’ release, the soft ballad ‘Slow Dance’, and the simply beautiful and uplifting ‘A Good Life’ and the more uptempo ‘Watching You Watching Me’, and ‘Getaway Car’.

There are no fillers on ‘Bonfire’ which is a real testament to the amount of craft that has gone into making this body of work. The Shires have brought together a stunning collection of songs to create their most well-rounded and cohesive LP. This is a no-skip album.
